What a breathtaking place, some also call it South Africa’s most immersive safari.
Our two night stay at TSWALU KALAHARI was far too short. But you know how it is, we are actually working when checking out new places for our clients. Not sure if working is the right word for it though đ I would not call it work to spend 2 amazing nights in this beautiful place in the vast and open space of the southern Kalahari in northern South Africa.
Tswalu Kalahari is with a size of over 100.000 hectares the largest privately owned game reserve in South Africa. It is basically our neighbor to the south, since it borders Botswana in the north of the reserve.
What is so special about this unique place?
Each booking gets ist own private vehicle with guide & tracker, the four of us really enjoyed our interactions with our private guide and tracker.
Every day is planned individually, guests can choose between a large variety of experiences.
The concession boast with rare animals wildlife-lovers will struggle to find elsewhere. Examples are the elusive Pangolin, shy aardwolf, several colonies of meerkats and of course a healthy population of cheetah.
The variety of activities is impressive: game drives, tracking, horseback safaris, star gazing, bush walks, meerkat visits, sleeping under the stars.
Dining at Klein Jan – an unforgettable experience
Our evening at Klein Jan was one of the many highlight of our stay. I won’t tell you too much and keep it as a little surprise, but this place would be reason enough to return. Amazingly creative cuisine, attention to the smallest details, surprising for all your senses, highly recommended.
Best combinations with Tswalu Kalahari
We recommend to combine Tswalu with a stay in Capetown and in the Okavango Delta. Start your safari with a few nights in the Mother City, followed by at least 3 nights at Tswalu. From Tswalu you fly to Johannesburg and connect to an Airlink flight to Maun. End your trip with a stay in the Okavango Delta. Access is easy, Fireblade aviation flies from Capetown or Johannesburg directly to Tswalu.
Southern Africa has so much to offer and never stops to impress us. There has never been a better time for travelling. We only live once, lets enjoy every moment to the fullest. Tswalu is certainly one for the bucket list!
